Default 63% Of American Gamers Game on PC

The Entertainment Software Association released a study indicating between other data what platforms are used to game in American households that own a dedicated gaming Console, PC, smartphone, handheld system or wireless device.

The study brings some quite surprising results. While consoles get the lion’s share with 68%, PCs most definitely aren’t far behind, with 63% of the polled households. Smartphones are beaten by quite a large margin with 43%, and gaming handhelds appear “only” in the 37% of households.

That’s most definitely an impressive showing for PC gaming, that inches just behind consoles and beats everything else by a landslide.

In the end, considering that the start of the Steam summer sale can crash its powerful servers into submissions, the result of this study is not so surprising. PC gaming is alive and well, and will probably continue to thrive for a long while.

Default Re: 63% Of American Gamers Game on PC

The PC Master Race took a huge hit yesterday when it was revealed that the PC prepackaged hardware sales from retail vendors was down by 10% from the previous year. Well, today the news is a bit brighter for the Champions of Components, as more than 63% of gamers game on PC.

The Electronic Software Association released some new data to Dualshockers, indicating that the hardware drops are not correlative or indicative of a change in video game consumption on PC. This is probably startling and reassuring news to gamers who prefer gaming on the PC platform.

The images below speak volumes about the gaming trends, with the stats showing that console gaming reigns supreme, and while the peasants take majority of the share with a very impressive 68%, the poll also indicates that 63% of those same gamers also put some time into playing on PC. Smartphones have seen some growth but they still trail greatly behind PC and consoles, and handhelds follow just behind smartphones, probably just out the sheer number of smartphones on the market. The last item on the poll is for wireless devices, trickling down in last place. However, the real interesting part is where PC gamers are putting their time.

Apparently Micro$oft did a study of console gamers vs PC gamers. Even the crappiest PC gamers destroyed the "pro" console gamers. LMAO!

If a mouse and keyboard could connect to a console, I'd consider it for SOME games. As it stands, PC > all.

Having lived in Germany, the UK and crossing the border for LANs, there is no doubt that in Europe PC outweighs consoles.
