I put Avast AntiVirus on my wife's new netbook, seems to work very well. I actually "purposely" infected my old rig before I formatted it and Avast caught a bunch of stuff so I was quite pleased. I just used the Free version.

Malwarebytes is just a malware program, but a very good one! It has a free version which you have to start and run manually to scan your system for Malware. If after the scan there was infected files found on your system you are asked weather you want to quarantine them or delete them.

There is also a paid version which works in real time and will or should catch Malware on the fly.

Microsoft security Essentials is a fantastic FREE AntiVirus software! I have been running it on 5 systems since it was first released and not a single problem and it is very light on resources.

    Where in Montana.

I will be up in that part of the country shortly. Was stationed at MSU in Bozeman teaching ROTC in the early 70s while in the Army. ****, I am giving my age away here.
