    Default Ketchikan Salmon

Took this picture while in Ketchikan, Alaska for business. A spawning river runs through the middle of downtown with a walkway overlooking it.
Some Saturation and other adjustments to achieve this effect. This is my favorite picture to come from my Nikon D60.

Here's one from the foothills of the Cascade Range In Washington State:

I used to live in Alaska, but I was too poor to own a decent camera at the time.
I'd love to go back and use a good camera,....it would be like being in a candy store.

your salmon pic is damn nice too.

I was born in Anchorage and raised until about 8 y/o in Eagle River before being transplanted to the Seattle area. Besides visiting Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka for business I spend some time living in Ketchikan with my grandparents.

I completely understand your comment on being in a candy store. Every time I've been up there for business I take my camera and come back with pictures that blow my mind when I get them to my computer.

I don't say it lightly when I say it's absolutely impossible to explain Alaska's beauty to someone who's never been there. And for me, it has always been my siren. It has always called for me to come back...

Impossible to explain to those who haven't been or lived there.. it's spiritual and so much more.

Nice shots. A friend of mine lives in Fairbanks, he keeps trying to get me out there. It's on my must see bucket list. All of his pics are amazing.

spent several years in Alaska back in the early sixties Fairbanks at Fort Wainwright, and was there for the big one, a 9.0 on the rickter scale.
Other then that it was a wonderful experience and what I call God's country.
