Visiontek's latest powerhouse is the Radeon 6870. It's a reference design for the most part, but it brings some strong capabilities to enthusiasts looking for something special. Boasting some impressive gaming horsepower at a very competitive price, it sounds very tempting. Let's take a closer look at the Visiontek Radeon 6870 1GB and see what it can do.

Great read, sweet review Jake, thanks
Makes me wonder if I should be selling my 2 X 5870s and start shopping.

Why Kip?
You just side stepping though. HD5870 is still going for $400 a pop unless you get a good deal for your 5870. However, with the good price for 6870 is very hard to sell your 5870 without losing money.
Keep it until the 6970 releases then do the upgrade. I'm sure AMD will try to lease them in time for Christmas season.
Maybe Skyguy can feed us some info on this hey!![]()

Thank you for the review. The GTX460 is still at the top of my list but it's nice to see other options.

Well the GTX 460 doesn't technically compete at this price range but it is an excellent card, especially when overclocked.
As for upcoming cards, you'll see in the review the new models that AMD will be releasing and the approximate dates:
The next cards will be the high end single core cards in the not to distant future. AMD hasn't given us a firm date but I would wager we'll see them by Christmas.

Good review, the highend card should start coming in soon. For those who like the GTX460 I did manage to get the new Gigabyte GTX460 Super Clock for Jake to review so keep your eyes open in the next couple of weeks for that review.

So, my best guess the 6970 will outperform the 5870 and the price is probably in mid $300ish.
