I was one of the early adopters of the Premium version of this board and it is still kicking ass.

    Great review as always

I moved to the Gigabyte Z68 board due to my ASUS P6X58D Premium board dying. I still think this is a great board and I'm hoping for a replacement through RMA - computer number two!

Great review Jim, I don't know why Asus is still keying on LGA1366 when the new sockets are right around the corner. There must be a reason, but I am certainly not aware of it.

alan, it may be due to the fact that the 1366 platform has been such a great performing platform! There has probably been more successful overclocking with this platform than any other before it. The time frame for it pretty much paired it with windows 7 which has by far been the best operating system ever released by microsoft.

Put that all together and I would bet a lot of folks are very happy campers and don't feel the need to upgrade!

The 990X is not going anywhere soon. It is still the top performing processor from Intel. Not everyone buys.$400 motherboard for it and the 950 still sells. Where other companies have moved on, Intel still represents a full line motherboard company and upgraded the X58 chipset with their latest Digital + VRM, SATA III 6G and more. They platform is not dead by any means but it just is not Intels signature platform anymore.. I hope this explains it better...

4.6 seems like such a walk in the park these days.
