    Default CaseLabs Interview

Recently we had the opportunity to speak with CaseLabs, a case manufacturer that specializes in hand-crafted enthusiast designs in all-aluminum construction. We also got the chance to tour their office and manufacturing facility in Southern California, and take a look at the work going on with some creative and dedicated people who make the company what it is.

Because I'm not a fan of giant cube cases. Caselabs offers an excellent product, with unprecedented expandability, but it isn't to my tastes. After reading the interview (which I did read Vin - great work) I toyed with the notion of buying a Caselabs pedestal. Just the pedestal. And building an ATX system in it complete with WaCo. Those dimensions are much more to my tastes. The problem of course is that the pedestals aren't designed for presentation, but rather for functionality. So, meh.

That doesn't mean I can't set Jim on the right path, my path.

/Edit: The right path. Give me a case that is either:
    A) 15" x 15" (375mm) square. Give that case a height of 40" (982mm). Start with a bottom chamber for rads (six vertical triples should be enough, with clean, filtered intake from the front). The second chamber for the power supply and pumps. Lay the motherboard flat in the third chamber. And put drives and reservoirs in the final fourth chamber. The entire front of the case should be a segmented, windowed door.
    B) 12" (300mm) wide, 15" (375mm) tall, and 28" (700mm) deep. Vertical (traditional) motherboard. Front-mounted PSU beneath 3 optical drive bays. Roof-mounted 560mm rad. Plenty of options for HDD cage mounting mid-case.

    Easy as pie.

These are the most impressive cases I have seen to date can't wait to see what they come up with next. Maybe they will cater to Earth and make a SFF case.

The dimensions I listed were for fullblown ATX systems. My ideal ITX systems would have a much smaller footprint than that.

This is the great part of being part of this site, without this article I would have never known about Caselabs. I had been looking at cases for my next build and the Magnum M8 case looks to be almost exactly what I wanted, and you can add parts/change the case as you go which is awesome. Thanks for the review!!
