    Default Gigabyte X79 G1.Assassin 2

With the G1.Assassin 2 from their “Gamer” series, Gigabyte hopes to deliver a board which exceeds anything else in the mainstream market and we will be putting this motherboard to the test, both in real-world and some synthetic tests to see if this board can live up to the claims.

Nice board. Nice 3D UEFI BIOS, but a little pricey, for me.

    As always, great review Kip!

Nice write up Kip. A good read and your methodolgy is spot on.

It looks like a really nice board, but lordy it's expensive!
I still haven't got used to the idea that boards are worth 200 bucks, and now they're throwing ~400 dollar boards~ out there.
Guess I need to hop in the '57 Chevy and go to the A&W for a Root Beer and some Fries and let the young rich folk buy the good stuff.

ALSO: Some sites are reporting problems with these boards burning up when OC'd.
Here is one story, and if you read through it, this board is listed as being one of the ones affected.

I think that it's a little silly as I've said in the past. If I want to play with guns, I'll get the Glock out and go shooting.
Gun parts on PC's just don't do it for me. I cleave to function, and ~pretty~ mainboards don't weigh heavily in my buying decisions.

We should have a ASUS X79 motherboard round up next. The Gigabyte X79 UD5 came in today, so I'll be shipping that out with the Intel DX79 and MSI X79A shortly, also a 16GB 2400MHz kit from Kingston

The nice thing about the pistol heatsink is that all it takes to get rid of it is to mount a couple nice cards on the board and it seems to just disappear. LOL

Oh yeah Jon, an analysis of the performance of SATA-III SSD's ~and~ PCI-E SSD's would be a great idea.

Won't be able to afford any of the new boards to soon because of new addition once I see how the 7970s
sort out as to brands, performance and if any problems.

But going to be looking for a board because of case limitations, as to these requirements.
    1. Ivy of course.
    2. Pci-e 3.0 Native.
    3. Usb 3.0 Same.
    4. Lane spacing as to air flow at max bandwidth for both.
    5. If bottom slot for one of them as to item 4 does not block bottom usb or Sata ports.
    6. 300 bucks or below.
    A Chance

It may not be on the market right away, but chances are that it will be in time. Probably not a lot of time either. Let's pray on it.
