    Welcome to PureOC trajan2448,.......

There is now a trim feature that you can install for OS-X. The new OS-X 10.6.8 update enables trim natively.
So it's a simple matter of running your software update feature within the OS and rebooting to enable it.

Here is the link to the story that I just read.

OS-X uses a drive in a different way than Windows does. So I'm not sure that the guide we use will help you out.

I just updated my prior post with the proper instructions for him to get it done. It's just an Apple software update that does it,...sort of like the windows update feature that we have. So he runs the updater and reboots and it's on by default afterwards.

Not sure about that. It's a whole different file system. It uses a drive in an entirely different way. Their disk utilities can go through a drive entirely, scan, and fix any problems and never need a reboot. I'm sorry that I sold my iMac 24" to my son. It was a fine PC.

Second from the top. but maxed out ssd and ram. OWC says their drives don't require TRIM so I didn't install it. After 4 months still just as fast. OS Lion is pretty silky. Hope it stays that way.

If you're updating your Mac through Apple's software update feature on a regular basis, then it is probaly already done.
Apple decided to implement Trim for SSD's in Macs because it does provide benifits. OWC's wishes were probably not even considered by Apple before they made the change.

I don't know. According to my system report it still says trim support disabled. I have latest updates on LION.

Here is the link to the story that I just read.

It says that the latest OS-X Update enables Trim support within the OS.
it also says that some SSD's do not work properly with this update.
    Go there and read it.

It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. If the system is working fine and you're happy with it, then don't fix it.

A future update from Apple will most likely do it anyways.
