Default SanDisk Extreme 240GB SATA III

The SanDisk Extreme 240GB SSD comes with a larger capacity on the SandForce controller. Is it faster with the new firmware and NAND configuration? Well, we will save the suspense and start off by telling you this is the fastest SATA III drive we have tested to date.

Great drive, I bought it on sale for 294.00USD on one of those Friday nite specials at Amazon but even at the 339,00 they have it now its worth it. I love the drive, I want to put it in a Raid 0 config but I really cannot move around that good yet, I had an operation, and I cant keep bothering the guys from my old job, they came over to my house and built me a workbench and put together the X79 Sabertooth for me, then they came back and finished the work bench, its really nice, its in my garage but they cleaned it out and painted the floor with that Epoxy paint you see in car dealerships. I got plenty of lighting also. Its an attached garage so I can get some heat from a number of sources for the winter. Its a good thing they operated on my left leg or I wouldnt be able to drive. Getting old is a bitch.

Something has to break out in the ssd world. They are all to close together in performance now to differentiate.

My old tired worn out, dropped on the floor, kicked in the corner, cat pissed on it twice M4 is for all intent and purpose just as fast.

    What you think Bill?

Read write, don't care, only score matters and my M4 is all over those bench numbers.
I mean none of it matters for windows, they are all good now. The write and read speeds for any modern ssd are pretty much indistinguishable from one another in an OS environment. It's only when benching that any difference's show, and when you take the 0-fill tests away M4 is right there. ( Same with my 520's )

Not trying to say it's not a great drive , it is. But it's just another drive to me. Doesn't really do anything to break out from the pack imho.

I am afraid I have to agree with you here, I have 2 X 120 gb OCZ Vertex 2 drives and a 240gb GSkill Phoenix Pro, all three SATA 11, I dont use them anymore, they are pretty much new. The GSkill Phoenix Pro is new, all I did was install it to bench it and put it back in the box. I am going to put all three up on Ebay soon. I have since aquired 5 SATA 111 6.0 SSDs, The Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240gb, the Patriot Wildfire 240gb, and the Patriot Pyro SE 240gbs, and the Sandisc Extreme 240gbs and the Plextor Pro 256gb. The only one I paid over 300USD for was the Patriot Wildire (349.00).

Firmware version R201 240gb drive is still snappy but substantially slower than test drive. E.g., AS SSD Benchmark Acc. Time Read 0.156 vs. 0.044, Score 285/291/714 vs. 302/369/821.
