We have a combo review for you today. We are bringing you a full review of AMD's new FX-8350 series CPU, a.k.a. the "Vishera." In order to do that, we wanted just the right motherboard, and Asus happens to have the new Crosshair V Formula-Z ROG ready to step in. This gives us a chance to test the mettle of two top of the line products at once. Will it be a match made in heaven? We shall soon see. AMD first released its FX series chips last year with the FX "Bulldozer" series. Some of us were not too happy with the chip, because the performance did not live up to expectations. Despite (and because of) that hiccup, we are very excited to see what their "new tech" can bring to the table. Today we are going to look at the new FX-8350 series chip, code-named "Vishera," to see what it can do. AMD has reported that the new line of FX series chips will bring a 15% increase in performance from the previous series. We look forward to putting this claim to the test. The new line of FX-8350 series chip is made to compete with its rival, the Intel Core i5 3570k. Our intention is to show you how it stacks up against just that, and who is still wearing the performance crown at the end.

Out of the box, Vishera was pretty good but core for core, AMD has some work to do. I am pleasantly surprised at the performance increases but mostly, AMD got the pricing right at $199. Good review kenny.

Kenny, you did a great job on this review and the photos are really nice too. Thanks for the hard work.
I am pleasantly surprised by this chip. Seems that AMD is really starting to move in the right direction and the price is fantastic. I think I'll go ahead and order an 8350. Seems like a nice upgrade and I can continue to use my Crosshair V Formula.
Now what to do with my second rig. Should I leave the 1100T in it with the Gigabyte 990FX-UD3 or put my FX-8120 in there.
I do have one question Kenny - Did AMD fix this issue with the inaccurate idle temps we saw with Bulldozer? Not a big deal but just wondering.

Thanks All, Yea, the out of the box performance was much improved and as I mentioned in the review. AMD really did a great job pricing the new chip at a great value. Although AMD doesn't have a top contender against Intels Extreme edition chips, It was nice to see that they did match up fairly close with Intels price per price competitor the I5 3570k.
Sam, The issue with the temps doesn't lie within AMD, It lies with with the programers at CoreTemp, They haven't figured out all the kinks of its architecture to report idle temps correct when the chip sits idle, While I have to say tho, ASUS temperature software had no issues. I would much relay on that for idle temps than core temp, However once loaded and the chips transistors get moving, the temps are correct in core temp and thats what you should really be watching. Idles move around to much and its no point unless you have a issue with your cooler.
I really had allot fun with this review and in the process I also learned allot.
But most of all I have to Thank Stan, Jim for helping and All you PureOC members always pushing us on and that helps us do what we do best here at PureOC.

Its actually not the 660ti, its just a normal 660, I got it for my Intel bench.
I think i've had it for about 3 or 4 weeks now...
I got it for a good deal..
I am still looking at getting 2 GTX670 for my Intel x79 rig, but need more money before I do.
Thanks Vinny! Yup, the combo was top notch.
