Default Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate G3 64GB

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate G3 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive is the third generation product in the company's lineup, packing 64GB of capacity onto a form factor that can fit onto your key ring. But what about performance? Around here, we think Performance is King, and we've heard people complain these large capacity flash drives are slow as molasses in a northern Canadian winter (that's cold, trust me). Just how fast is this G3 flash drive? Let's move on to find out.

Would have been nice if you had included USB 2.0 tests.

I disagree. It's a USB 3.0 device and should be tested as such. It is backwards compatible to USB 2.0, and that's great.
Kingston makes a lot of top grade gear, and they're one of our sponsors here at Pure OC.
Thanks for the great review Jake.

To me your reply implies one is supposed to buy a USB drive for version 2.0 and 3.0. Why should I care if a PC has 2.0 or 3.0 support? I want the highest throughput on either version.
lol "and that's great" And this sounds as if it would be a better device if it only supported version 3.0.
"Wait let me just copy that.. Ah, right. My super fast USB flash drive doesn't support ****ty computers. Take care".

edit: I don't mean to offend you. There are devices for that same price that have subpar performance on version 2.0. Version 3.0 hasn't been on the market for an amount of time to ignore 2.0. Chromebook Pixel -for inexplicable reasons- chose to ignore 3.0.

My point was that measuring 2.0 speeds was not indicated with a 3.0 device, as long as they're backwards compatible.
I have three USB 3.0 External drives and one 3.0 Flash drive and they all work with USB 2.0 ports.
They work at 2.0 speeds when they're connected to a 2.0 port, and haul-ass when connected to a 3.0 port.

Not all of my PCs have 3.0 ports on them, so backwards compatibility ~does~ mean something to me.
But I will admit that some USB 3.0 controllers that are being used these days are not as good as others.

I'm not here to offend anyone either.
