Default Gelid Black Edition CPU Cooler Review

When you hear the name Gelid, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For most it's PC case fans. Gelid is known for some of the quietest PC case fans. However, they've also produced some thermal compounds, some VGA cooling units and even a case. Furthermore, they recently stepped into the realm of CPU cooling as well. They were kind enough to send us their new Black Edition CPU cooler to check out. Let's see if Gelid can include good performance, yet keep their quiet fan reputation in the same package.

A revealing and thorough review Will. I like that you cover so much information concerning all aspects of what you're reviewing. (your pics are good too) This is why I love the reviews here at PureOC.
I love the performance this cooler provides, but the mounting should be redesigned to eliminate clearance issues. Also, some coolers allow for repositioning the fans upward to clear installed RAM sticks and this should be an industry standard.
I was surprised at the fan clip interfering with the PCI-E slot as well as the RAM slot.

    Again, thanks for the review.

On that note there is a minor addendum to that. The fan clips actually face inwards and therefore do not interfere with the first slot. I'll have updated pics and info this evening. Minor error on my part!

Hey guys, I've updated the review with the fan clips in their proper (inward-facing) position. This opens up tons of room between the cooler and first PCI-E slot.
