Default Correction Review: Silverstone Heligon Series – HEO1 CPU Cooler Revisited

Hello fellow Pure Overclock readers! Today we have something a little special on the table. If you have previously been reading our CPU Cooler reviews you probably saw our recent review for Silverstone. We reviewed the Silverstone Heligon Series - HEO1 CPU Cooler, but after publication of the review, Silverstone noticed some discrepencies, and shared their concerns of the temperatures we had recorded. While we explained to Silverstone our process to make sure temps are recorded accurately, they wondered if they had possibly sent us a defective cooler. What Silverstone did next was beyond our expectations. They sent us a second cooler for re-testing to see if we gathered the same results or better. As you will soon see, it turns out their concerns were valid. Before we jump into things, we would like to thank Tony at Silverstone for sending us a second cooler for re-testing of the Heligon Series - HEO1.

A decent improvement over the first cooler that was sent. 5c gain in cooling. very nice. Thanks for the update and thanks Silverstone for catching that and sending a replacement.

It's their own interest to replacing the inferior sample, if they didn't do then it will hurt their reputation. They did the right thing.

I hope they didn't give you a song and a dance in the first test results?

They were great about asking the right questions. I wrote them a pretty detailed email on my testing process, I always use the same process on every cooler I have reviewed.
They had thought it was my chip, but I informed them that I used the same chip to test another cooler right after this one and didn't encounter any issues, so that was ruled out. Once they have confirmed I had done everything on my end they said they were sending a replacement.

Yup, I love silverstone items, I wish they had some cases for us to review.
I know they have quite a few new cases in their line that I wouldn't mind doing.

We should be receiving one of their HTPC cases for review, but most likely after we publish a PSU review for them, I'll have to check with Jake and see if he received the PSU sample yet.
