    Default Antec P280

Introduction Quiet computing is becoming all the rage these days. People are sick of hearing their systems sound like jet engines all the time. Manufacturers are realizing this and a lot of them are coming out with reduced noise or low noise “quiet” products. Antec is no exception. They have their own Quiet Computing section with cases intended for low noise, featuring the Performance One family and the Sonata family. The latest addition to the Performance One family is the P280. The P280 is available in four different flavors – black or white and with or without a window. Antec was kind enough to send us a P280 in black to review, so let’s get to it!

Here’s a little about the P280 from Antec: “Sophisticated Performance Refined -Sophisticated and cutting-edge, the P280 emphasizes the ease of use, quiet technology and unparalleled performance characteristic of Antec’s Performance One series. This advanced enclosure comes equipped with features that will maximize your PC experience, from Quiet Computing™ panels & HDD drive bays, to grommet-lined cable routing holes with ample space behind the motherboard tray. The P280 accommodates motherboards up to XL-ATX and includes nine expansion slots to support up to four 13.0″ / 330 mm graphics cards. And with convenient tool-less optical drive bays, easy-access front & bottom PSU intake air filters, two front panel USB 3.0 ports and an affordable price, you get an elite enclosure that will last you for builds to come. “ – Antec Let’s take a look at the P280′s features and specifications on the next page.

Thanks for the review Will. Looks like Antec more or less hit the nail on the head with this one. Far cry better than their original Nine Hundred even with no window x-).

I have to say with the exception of the small cable routing holes next to the PSU, I love this case. The grouments are kinda cheesy but they work if you take your time routing everything. Using it for my AMD FX8350, AsRock 990FX Extreme 9 w/ GTX 770's in SLI. Using a Cooler Master Seidon 240m. Clocked the cpu at 4.8Ghz and the ram is running at 2.8Ghz. Haven't had much luck overclocking the gpu's yet but, I am going to get in touch with Kenny to help me out there

I def wouldn't mind one of these in white with a window. There is plenty of room inside to do some things I could show off. Thinking about picking up a Gigabyte OC Force Mobo. White/Orange/Grey. Hmm...

I had a quick question in regards to this case. I noticed several times in your review you stated that this case will hold E-ATX mobo's. Is this true? I only ask because on Antecs site they only list. XL-ATX, ATX, micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX mobos.
I really like this case and I was hoping to use one in an upcoming build of mine where i was planning on using a ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition Extended ATX Intel Motherboard. Would you be able to tell me for sure if that MOBO will fit in an Antec P280? You're help/advice will be super appreciated.

Welcome to the forum I have no first hand knowledge on this particular chassis

But what I do know is that they both take the same standoff positions, and the E-ATX I believe is a bit wider but not as long

so based on that I would think that some of the cable routing areas may or could get partially covered by the wider board.

I would wait for Will, ComputersCircuits I believe he could answer better then I, the board in his build appears to be a standard ATX.

I found these examples on the web

    Vinman,
Thanks for the size comparison picture, it really starts to put things into perspective to actually see the boards side by side. Too bad it didnt show the XL-ATX and the E-ATX top to bottom so we could better see the width difference. Hopefully Will responds to this thread since it appears that he has some first hand knowledge of this case. I've been out of the pc game for about 5 years now so im trying to refresh myself with all of the new gear out there so i apologize if some of my questions seem simple or lame.

Looks like were your issues are is the XL is an inch and half longer at the bottom the rest I believe would not hinder you in any way.

If I new this distance to the power supply I could better answer your question
