Good review Mike great pics as well

I would of thought it would have done a better job at cooling especially at a top fan speed of 1400 rpm
I didn't notice any other area that would draw air in other then dead center, Just a thought but I think if the back was fully ventilated
it may have performed a bit better, I like the speakers that's a big plus.

Those were my thoughts exactly. Had the face of the pad been fully ventilated rather than just being channeled exclusively through the center (and had they used a different surface design) then it would have had much better cooling performance. Thing is though I feel like the way this was packaged it might have compromised structural integrity of the unit too much, so it's design makes sense from that perspective. I also know it wasn't the fan because I disassembled the unit after the review to make sure that everything was working correctly with the fan, and it works just fine. The performance data for this thing really doesn't tell the whole story at face value though; like I said it DID make the keyboard more tolerable to use, but the temps still didn't improve much peak-to-peak so I am guessing that the average temps would have shown stronger performance results. I would have used OCCT's built-in data logger for the test but for some raisin OCCT doesn't like this computer's motherboard and refuses to work on it. It also doesn't help that the underside of this thing is a sealed sea of aluminum and plastic with VERY little (see: NONE) room for air to flow over the rest of the hardware. Even for low voltage hardware that notebook operates hot enough to cook an egg -_-.

Still, it definitely deserves the award it got since this thing isn't really for the hXc enthusiast. It's a "filthy casual"'s cooling pad that is more about ease of use and user comfort than high performance cooling, and I actually really like it because of that. Even its looks tell that same story: "Hi, I'm an Enermax TwisterOdio 16. I am in my late twenties with a good job, still wrapping up my Master's Degree and I have a kid on the way with a mortgage to consider. I have now eschewed the "swagalicious" ways of my youth in favor of styles from Express and the business formal section of JC Penny, but still retain some of my youthful exuberance."
