According to these results, the X40/G10 combo is superior to a full block in a top notch setup. Either he tested the X40/G10 in a walk-in freezer, or he didn't test it at all and simply made up results.....more like "Not So Legit Review". I hate seeing stuff like this.

I believe Kenny's review more than LG. His numbers are more realistic, the 50% temp drop claim by LG is only happen in custom water cooling. However, it is hard to do the comparision the 2 reviews since they are both different testers, GPUs.

That was my point. Kenny's numbers fall in line with expectations and what we have seen from using AiO coolers on GPUs in the past. The 50 degree drop claimed by Legit seems just a little out of whack....

Yea, those numbers are way too low for a AIO, even my full waterblock Komodo doesn't cool the card that low, There is a point with the rads and water can meet equilibrium.
AIO's do a god job, but we ALL know that custom water cooling is going to be far more superior either way you look at it.

Also, I ran my test in more then one application to make sure we got some variance and as you can see from my chart that the results do vary, but very minimal by 1 to 3 degrees at most.

I would never report false temps on a review. Otherwise, whats the purpose of our reviews if results and data were made up.
Who knows tho, since I don't know the tester I can't say exactly how his test was done.

I believe my Ambients weren't too far from his.
I tested at right about 24c (temp controlled room).

But his temps seem to be low for a AIO Cooling but like I said, I don't know his testing condition so who knows..
But if his temps are accurate, then he's got a golden card.

This is one of the reason I don't report the actual temps. Delta tells more accurate result no matter what the ambient temp are.

Example; if Kenny's ambient was 24c and his delta result is 40c then all we have to take away 3c for 21 degree ambient.

LG's results are very off to believe. I have done GPU reviews and I can tell you, only custom water cooling can cut the heat load in half when you use 3x120mm rad. Also one of his VRM result is kinda eschew too, I can see the VRM temps drop a little bit when the GPU is on water but not 30c drops.

BTW, he didn't have the golden card but he has a golden cooler.

Kenny's and LG temps display that is shown here is 2 different items. Since the VRMs are cooled with the fan vs the stock cooler.

Even you have a dedicate fan about the VRM, it's still can't cut the heat by 30C. No way.
In the pass I have tested Thermalright's big monster VRM heatsink, it's still didn't drop that much in temp. Let me find the old review and have a look.

Edit: here's the test results for the Spitfire Heatsinks for HD5870. I know it is a different card but look at the temps, it didn't even drop more than 20c and this is with massive dedicate heatsink and fan for the VRM.

Hahahahaa..... Typically, when i do cooler reviews I would use Delta temps, but in this case i tested on 3 coolers in a temperature controlled environment so I didn't have any diff in temps during the entire testing process to there is no need for it. I spent a good 5 or 6 hrs doing the testing between the 3 coolers (stock, AIO and full water).
Unless I had results from a earlier case (done days apart) then Yes, I can see Delta temps being used (and I have would have done that).

but Yes, what Tony is stating is pretty much spot on to what I am thinking. 30c drop on the VRM with no dedicated heatsink is hard to believe. let alone 50c drop. Even the GPU core with drops of more then 30c is hard to believe with a single rad.

The claim on the GPU is 50c drop, also. A single 140mm rad....with an AiO....? So, the setup takes the 7970 (which doesn't have any real heat issues with the ref cooler) down 15c, but takes a 290X (which can't be cooled with a ref cooler) down 50c? And drops the VRM 50c by simply putting a 92mm fan near it?

If you believe that, please stop by my place, and bring cash, I have a bridge for you.

I have to wonder if the R290X may have screwy temp sensors like some of the FX chips did?

Awesome review, i have been thinking about this kind of thing for a while now, since i saw that Vid of someone putting a Corsair AIO on a card, and everyone going crazy over that, but looking at your "usable" AIO's and GPU's i see that i have none that would work LOL, but was a great read sir.
