Default Cooler Master Glacer 240L AIO

As performance has increased, traditional cooling solutions have struggled to keep up. Engineers have made air coolers larger, and added more fans and heat pipes in an effort to keep CPU temperatures in check. This approach has only taken us so far in the quest for the ultimate cooling solution. The popularity of custom water cooling has been on the rise among the elite and hardcore gamers. Others find it too bothersome or worrisome to add liquids where we have been taught not to put them. Over the last two years there has been an explosion of middle ground solutions called All in One Liquid (AIO) Cooling or Sealed Loop Systems. These have allowed the better cooling of water without the maintenance or fears of a fully custom water cooling system.Cooler Master has been successful with their previous outings in the seal loop arena but now they want to tackle the last hurdle for all AIO’s; expandability. The Glacier 240L Liquid CPU cooler is meant to address all of your current needs and those you may have in the future. That is a tall order for any CPU cooler but Cooler Master feels the Glacier 240L is up to the task. We will find out soon if they are correct.

Great review and I think we have a winner here for an AIO with the hoses being modular and it's refillable
You can also add some length to the hose and not be restricted and mount it anywhere you like.

The comparison test is still not apple to apple. The review didn't list the DIY loop components but look at the test results, the performance come from better CPU block and pump. By the way you can get XSPC-EXT-WC-KIT-AX240-750 for only $40 more and I'm sure it will kick the Glacier butts to the China.

I was waiting for you Denton! lol

I know it is not Apples to Apples. There is nothing to test Apples to Apples with the Glacier other then a H220. It is the only one with a Pump that size and modular. Which is why I tested it with a system that is close to one of the kits you are talking about. You are correct. I should have listed all of the parts. Not sure how I forgot to do so.

For those that are not ready to do a custom loop that $40 and added performance doesnt make a difference. For you as an avid water cooling expert it is not a good choice. They can choose to expand into custom loops when they are ready. Better to have that option then to buy a completely sealed unit. If I was to purchase any AIO it would be this one.

Great looking AIO! I know quite a few people who would love to have one of these. It would be great for those people overwhelmed by a full custom loop. Great review Sandy!

LOL it's cool. That's why I said anything though... gotta look BETTER than the rest x-D. Incidentally that is a properly neat little waco setup you did with that thing for the review. You keeping that particular rig the way it is with different fans?

Very true. That is s why I took the time to edit it all. So thx.

Thanks. It is a very nice system. No I had to remove the Glacer to install the custom Waco system for comparison testing. That setup is still in there. You will be seeing that build very soon too.

Oh the fans that come with the Glacer are great. They can move a lot of air. Just put a cap on the maximum rpms. Either bios or some other software. Running at 2400rpms is really not going to be needed unless you are going for some silly overclocks. I used the same fans on the custom Waco as well.

Good read Sandy. I like that cooler, but I'm up to my limit in coolers now.
    I have my second 240mm SilverStone TD02 on the way, a 240mm Asetek 540-LX, an H80 and an H60.

So ~don't~ send me the Cooler Master Glacer 240L unless you really must.
