Default Gainward BLISS 7800 GT ‘Goes like hell’ 512MB

We recently reviewed Gainward’s BLISS 6800 GS ‘Goes like Hell’ 512MB card and found it to be an impressive showcase, not only to what can be achieved by moving away from reference designs, but as an indicator to the direction the company is heading.

This time, Gainward are giving the ‘Goes like Hell’ treatment to the hugely successful 7800 GT, but this is an altogether trickier segment of the market to hike prices. Looking around popular UK e-tailers tells me a regular 7800 GT can cost as little as £200, and Gainward’s 7800 GT ‘Goes Like Hell’ 512MB weighs in at £250. That’s quite a price hike and will need to be justified with stellar performance...

Default How does it compare to the 7800GTX 256mo ?

    Hello,

    Thanks for this interesting review.

I think it would have been nice to compare it as well to the 7800GTX 256mo to see if the 7800GT GLH 512mo comes closer or not to it ?

    Regards,
    Daniel.

    Ay-up,

I would like to have compared this card against a 7800 GTX but didn't have one at the time and the 7900 series is under NDA until tomorrow i think, but i don't actually have any samples. When the time come though I'll be sure to see how the 7900 GT fairs against this supercharged 7800 GT.

7900 GTX Goes like Hell , now that will be a nice card. To be honest though, ATI look to have the advantage with X1900. I don't see Nvidia taking the peformance crown back.

What's going to be interesting to see is if Nvidia have figured out how to get HDR and anti-aliasing to working at the same time. Considering G71 is just a 90nm version of G70 it doesn't look good (from what i hear). I just cannot believe Nvidia will screw up this badly!

We'll find out tomorrow i guess.

i read it too , but i think that 2000 pieces is very low . maybe its because they will make GLH card from 7900 ...

    ok here's the deal.

A thousand pieces were sent out to UK distributers and e-tailers, which is what's in stock now around the UK (i think mainly OCUK). Another thousand is in allocation with 600 of these already on there way to the UK market. There's also a rumour that another thousand might be produced, depends on market demand.

Overall you're looking at a potential 3000 peices for the Uk market, but as of now OCUk are correct, there are only 2000 pieces at the moment.

well technically it's not a link as you can't click anything and get to the site, but its nice anyway .

I'm trying to get some 7900 samples in but everyone's at CeBIT, just my luck
