Re: Old System - New Parts

Take your time. I'm in no hurry to sell and I'll give ya first dibs, but don't feel obligated. If you like one of the other boards, go with what you like best. :)

Re: Old System - New Parts

I just remembered, I'm selling my Asrock 990fx extreme9 board. Good overclocker. If you're interested, let me know. I originally was looking for $125 shipped but I'm willing to negotiate a bit. =D...

Re: Old System - New Parts

Have you considered some MSI boards? 6350 doesn't have a huge power requirement so the 6+2 phases wouldn't be too bad. Besides, the 970 is on sale on the egg right now so it's only $80.

Hey guys. I really wanna give the new MSI board a try but need to get some funds first. I also finished a stupidly ridiculously long RMA process with Asus but finally got a working crosshair, that...

    Re: R9 390X a rebranded R9 290X?

Found this today. 390x isn't a rebrand, or new, just a revision essentially.

Yeah, a friend of mine was going through that. I helped him get the updated Beta driver from AMD which seemed to help. In Rocksteady's defense, while they made the game for consoles, WB games were...

Re: Trying to get into overclocking

Welcome! Glad you came by. The build looks great. I didn't see hard drives listed but if you could throw a decent 120gb ssd in there, you'll have an excellent budget build.

    Cooling wise, you can't...

Skylake is supposed to have better overclocking potential, PCIe 3.0 lane upgrade in the new z170 chipset for storage devices and is coming in august. I'd go skylake and just wait a couple months...

    Re: R9 390X a rebranded R9 290X?

So the way it's working is, Fury X and Fury are the only cards with totally new architecture. The 390X should be slightly better than a rebrand in that the Hawaii core is supposedly optimized (now...

Re: 240 thick vs 280 reg radiators

Well, counting all dimensions, the thicker 240mm rad should give more surface area potential than the thinner 280mm. But that surface area is stacked more rather than spread out. The reason I ask is...

240 thick vs 280 reg radiators

I was doing some math trying to figure what radiator would do better. In theory, 38mm thick 240mm rad should be slightly better than a 25mm thick 280mm rad. The total area volume of the first is...

    Re: Mobo Power Phase Opinions

I think I see a little more why some 8 phase boards are still better that 12 phase ones. I just found out that the phases used in those counts are just for the Vcore. That means any additional power...

    Re: More New AMD Boards

I haven't seen how DirectX 12 handles threads yet, just cores. I know it can handle up to 6 cores though before DRs set in. From what I've seen so far though, Dx 12 should benefit most from cores,...

    Mobo Power Phase Opinions

Re: New MSI Board for the Red Team

Here's a blip on PCPer about how the 970 handled an 8370 and 9590. It's a capable board but falls short to the beefier power delivery systems.

Re: New MSI Board for the Red Team

I'm gonna wait for Zen to release but the Z170 has my interest peaked in two huge levels. The first is an upgrade to PCIe 3.0 lanes for the chipset. The board has a grand total of 32 PCIe 3.0 lanes!...

Re: New MSI Board for the Red Team
