    love the name

What drivers are you using? it would be a good idea to uninstall yours drivers, use driver cleaner in windows safe mode to get rid of all the reg stuff that was left behind and then update to the latest cats.

those cards are so poor. And considering most of that memory will be coming from the system i doubt it.

so far i have tried it with >

    Ati 6.5 and 6.6
    Sapphire 6.6

using Ati removal tool and driver cleaner pro,but same crash.
i even went through and deleted every Ati driver file left in sys dir`s.

as Brotakul says, next ones are the Omega 6.5 or 6.6,these are the4 ones i always used on my 9800 pro.
thats for tonight as soon as the lil one is asleep.

you should go join the 5000 forums i visited last night and explain the difference between "newbie clocker" and "albert einstein on whizz",as they all seem to think newbies are born with a degree or doctorate in computer science.
got a headache from the first 2 lines of every "simplified" tutorial i found.

first one that made sense to me was here.....thank christ !

hehe thanks, (i wrote the guide above).

i always try to be thorough. I remember when i first started overclocking and how every guide out there needed its own research to 10 other guides just to understand the first guide.

Let me know if anything stumped you on the guide and i'll try to make it even easier to understand.

no luck again,it says "this card is not supported"

guess i`ll have to wait for someone to overclock one and then manually copy thier settings and flash them onto the card bios.

    update...

grabbed the .25 atitool and its working...but

havent got a voltage control option showing in the drop down menu.

I've not messed around with an x1800 gto before so i don't know if it has voltage control or if ati tool simply doesn't support it as of yet.

If anyone wants to know why i banned amd_nvidia you'll have to pm me, i won't bad mouth anyone in public but will set the record stright via pm.

What i will say is that amd_nvidia did not write this guide and i'd appreciate if a few of you lads could back me up on this. The original guide was completely different, it was actually pretty poorly written. As usual amd_nvidia pm's me asking for it to be stickied (looking for glory with minimum effort). he then proceeds to pm me a few times in 20 minute intervals. He has no patience, i genuinely believe he has ADHD I then told him i won't sticky it, in fact its even in this thread that i said its not detailed enough to be sticky. What i should have said is that it was rubbish and that i want to delete your post, but i don't want to hurt anyones feelings...

Anyway, i then write the guide you see above in an effort to give all of you a decent guide, i didn't have time to write it up but i had no choice but to do this because his guide was so crap and i didn't want anyone using it and thinking this forum is full of noobs who don't even know how to overclock a video card. I post it up as a new thread.

He then gets real bitchy and starts to moan that i ripped off his post (not for the first time) and so i get so fed up with his attitude that i edit his original guide and paste my entire guide in its place under his name, of which took quite a few hours to write up. I then pm'ed him telling him i'd done this because all he gives a toss about is looking good on this forum, to which he all of a sudden had nothing to complain about anymore and said "thanks james".

Now would you do this if it wasn't what you wrote? i doubt it, but this guy did and it should tell you a lot about what sort of a forum type this guy really is.

Anyhow when someone posted a thread directly at amd_nvidia requesting a CPU overclocking guide i thought it was about time i said i wrote this guide otherwise amd_nvidia and his gigantic ego would attempt to write one up and end up blowing up all your computers

At this stage and because i'd obviously made it public that I wrote the guide he pm'ed me asking that i take his name off the guide and post it under my own name. So i went a head and did this, well done amd_nivida, you did the right thing, i thought.

Anyway, the short story as to why he got banned was nothing to do with any of this above but with him calling me a **** admin who doesn't know anything about PC's like other websites, so i banned him permanentlyfor this, he's never coming back unless he apologises and states he will respect that he has no authority here to act like a dick.

messy and missed several key points for overclocking properly, anyone with an ATI card would have been left banging there head against a wall with his guide, which i might add was about five lines of text.

I will do it soon, but I've got a huge array of reviews to do first as essentially there is kind of a "relaunch" of this site taking place soon. I will do a guide in about 2-3 weeks which will cover the general idea of overclocking and then full details on overclocking Conroe and AM2 along with what i consider safe volts for memory and CPU, cooling and so on.
