    Default Z77 - 800D Build Log

    Hey Guys,

As I parted out my old P67 2500k TRI SLI GTX470 system from my 700D case I decided to replace it with a Z77 2600k with SLI GTX470 but in my 800D case.
Here is my build log. Sorry I don't have allot pics right now... But I will upload some once I get a chance to edit and take some better shots.

This will not have as many custom parts or any custom paint jobs like my other builds. I just wanted to keep it simple and clean.
I reused allot of parts from my old P67 build. I don't feel the need to really upgrade everything just yet. The only item I am considering at this time is the GPU to the new 660Ti, But I would want it watercooled for OC and also silent operation. My old P67 was in my bedroom and so this will build so silent operation is my goal with the ability to OC and maintain good temps.

New items are the mobo, CPU, Ram and SSD. Everything else was reused.
For the cooling its the same. Pretty much reused most of it with the exception of a few parts here and there (little items, Fittings and tubing)

Update on the rigs Specifications: as of Feb 2013
Here is my updated list of components:

Gonna be nice! How's your FX 8120 build treating you so far? OC'ed mine to 4.745GHz tonight but temps hit a high of 66C so that won't do. What have you accomplished with custom water?

    Thanks!

Hey Sam, I am sad to report that my 8120 chip isn't a good OC at all. Not only that but I updated my Bios on my MB and the OC is even worst.
I have not been able to get anything stable at 4.4ghz. Even running volts as high as 1.56v and as low as 1.2v.

I even upgraded the cooling to a Triple Rad and better fans and still no luck. Although heat isn't the issue I have a feeling its the Mobo and not getting a good binned chip to begin with.
I am looking at trying to pick up a better mobo at this time, But I really don't want to have to spend $200+ on another board. I am looking at the Asus Sabertooth 990fx board right now..
From the research I have read the Saberooth is really good at OC the FX chips, I thought about the board you have but then again not sure which route I would take just yet.

Another problem is that since I got my Giga board when first released I got the Rev 1 board which doesn't have the load line calibration which is making it hard to me to acheive better OC's without the board throtling down the chip or BSOD.
Which is another reason why I haven't posted much updates. Until I have time to figure it all out or get a better board I won't post much yet. Or unless I figure it out with the current board. As of right now tho, I am not really happy with the performance. With the rev 1 board, everywhere I looks everyone has had problems. The best thing to do is replace it with a better board.

I can get 4.0ghz stable, but anything above that will have problems.
at 4.0ghz my temps right now are at about 48c at full load with volts at 1.41v

However performance wise at the same clocks my 1090t performs better and much more efficient..

Yep, it's your board I think. My UD3 doesn't OC very well either. Have my 110T in it and can't get anything stable over 4.0GHz either. I think you'll be fine with either the Sabertooth or the Crosshair V Formula. The Crosshair has been a really good board for me. I'll never buy anything other than Asus boards from this point forward. Not very impressed at all with my Gigabyte board. I know others have had good luck with ASrock, but I'm sticking with what I know works for me. Plus the Asus BIOS is so sweet compared to the Gigabyte BIOS. Keep us posted on both builds Kenny.

Some fittings arrived tonight that I was missing to complete finish the water loop. Will probably have some time this weekend to really start working on it some more.
I am still debating if I want to order the Corsair Blue Sleeved cables for the AX1200, Not sure if I want to spend $100 on cables.

Hey Kenny the guy across the street from me sleeves cables and he was telling me he has some blue sleeves
I've been thinking of having him sleeve my power supply cables for the cost of the material and a small labor charge
I'm thinking no more the $50 bucks to do the whole set, I will get a hold of him tomorrow and see what he says.

Looks like it will be a very nice build when you're through. You seem to be getting a lot of use out of those two GTX-460s.
