In the build log the tubes are that color, so I think it is just old tygon that has taken on some coloring.

Could also just be tubing from home depot or something, not meant to look fancy.

I read through the build thread again. He is using a couple of car rads. He thinks he didn't flush out all the gunk before using them, and some of it is circulating.

In my opinion, how seriously you take this project depends on your attitude towards the science & distributed computing, not how many points you rack up.

If you believe that your spare cpu cycles can contribute to good & valuable scientific research, and you donate your cpu idle time to the cause, then you take the project seriously, regardless of stats, # of rigs, etc.

Thanks. They work in the background so I can't complain, though I'd love to know what Grumpy is running/doing to amass such a big piece of the pie!

I have a question: When I go to the Tasks tab, it shows several are Ready to Report, and MANY are Uploading. It's been like that for over a day now. And if I manually try to Update, it says Communication Deferred. What's that mean? Is it not connecting into the servers to update? Are they down? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for the help, am still learning the ropes here.

I have been thinking about joining you guys for the WCG, I have a old E7200 sitting here that I didn't sell. I just need a socket 775 MB and I can put a small build together and use that rig for crunching with you guys. I would use my other rigs but I do to much of them on daily basis to have it running all the time.

Would a E7200 Core to Duo be able to keep up??

    1. I believe there is a server problem or maintenance just now .......Hence the delays and pending upload etc. You can keep up with such things by looking on the WCG forum; World Community Grid - List recent threads in all forums

    2. An educated guess: Depending on the speed it runs at. An e7200 will give you around 800ppd boinc at stock speed up to maybe 1050 at 3.3 . This would likely be higher if it ran linux

Your main rigs would not have to run many hours to achieve the same or better and as this is a background process that will defer to other uses and can be fine tuned or manually paused/stopped in the unlikely event it was interfering with your other work I say give it a quick trial and see how you go.

    Currently I run 1 2600K, 2 3770K's and half of a 920

It looks like the WCG server is down for some maintenance: World Community Grid - View Thread - Website Outage and BOINC outage.
When it's done the client will update and all will be good.

Anything you can put on the Grid is a valuable contribution. I have some ddr2 and I should have a basic video card for you if you need it. I'll keep an eye out for a 775 mobo. We usually get some coming through work to be retired, but most of the time they are Dell proprietary stuff.

I would use my other rigs but I do to much of them on daily basis to have it running all the time.

Would a E7200 Core to Duo be able to keep up??

1/2 of 920? I know a certain gent from New Hampshire who would frown with disapproval if he knew that
