Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
MVG + 3770K + 8GB ram = pass Memtest 18 hours, pass LinX 50 passes *4, Pass Prime95 18 hours.
run WCG = Bsod within the hour
add voltage from 1.28 to 1.30v = no Bsods but errors.
enable pll and add volts to 1.31 = System runs fine but I get the occasional invalid result so I am still going to update bios then start tweaking again.
Moral of the story is: There is Prime95 stable and LinX stable then there is WCG stable and sometimes finding that setting that needs tweaking can be a real Biatch.
Another thing; I ran 1 rig for a year and it was stable as you like throughout. ......Decided to try linux instead and the machine just would not run that overclock at those settings. again needed more volts (but runs work units a lot faster)
(Observations from me that may or may not help those with issues)
Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
I had a simliar issue with the overclock on my old system. Ran everything stable forever until I turned on Folding at home. System would random reboot every hour or so. Temps looked good. Everything was fine but still had the problem. i backed OC off a tad and never had problem again.
Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
I ran prime 95 for 7.5 hours and not a single problem, and WCG had run the day before and most of that day.
Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
And anyway this thread isn't about my systems stability so... Anyone know how I can reinstall WCG?
Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
Have you run Prime95 since? And the thread is about your problem and it could be not stable. Most of the time BSOD is due to instability. Even if you pass Prime95 7 hrs does not mean its stable. Back the overclock down a notch or 2 and see if it still happens. Overclocking does not help gaming in most cases anyhow on the CPU.
Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
Can you give me a step by step of how you installed the BOINC client after the BSOD. I must have missed something.

A 0x0F4 is a hardware problem usually in this case I think the problem has to do with my SSD which seems to randomly disconnect. The overclock is 3.5Ghz which is lower than the stock Turbo frequency which would run at the stock voltage. my current vcore is 1.264 which I'm pretty sure is quite a bit higher than the stock vcore. And overclocking may not help with gaming but it will with shared computing.

I deleted it's program folder, used CCleaner to clear the registry then installed it as usual but the installer still remembered where I had chosen to put the program files.
Re: BSoD while WCG was running...
Not sure if what yo have done already will allow this but.... Try using the installer to repair your install then try uninstalling using the installer to do so.
On the drive of your choice create a new folder called BOINC.
Inside that BOINC folder create another and this time call it BOINCDATA.
During the install process there is a box which asks you where you want to install.... Clicking advanced allows you to change the standard setup
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/4922/myboinc.jpg
point the program install at BOINC and the data at BOINCDATA.

Get rid of the tick in use screensaver .... tick the for all users if you want.
then let it install

You must delete the BOINC folder (not program folder) that is hidden by default. It sounds like it is corrupted and a clean install won't work until that folder is gone.

Lolz thats how I've been installing it expect the drive was F and the data folder was just called Data, at first I was wondering where you got images of me installing it XD. So your saying I should install it twice?

I moved that folder into the program folder so it was deleted at the same time.

Glad you got it figured out. Sometimes the client does that for me too, completely minimizes. Dunno why.
